Most 'bamboo frames' are fakes! Ordinary wood, made to look like bamboo. Even here in Hawaii original-style bamboo frames are hard to find among the imports from Thailand and the Phillipines. However, while the classic style of bamboo frame-making is hardly being practiced anymore, our framer has built them ever since coming to the Hawaiian Islands where he studied the bamboo frames he encountered in the homes of elderly islanders.
