- For a longer stay in the Islands a Vacation Home is an economical and pleasant way to spend your vacation. These homes come in all shapes and styles and are often quite a deal, specially if you are traveling as a group. You could find yourself in a charming beach house in a affluent neighborhood or perhaps at a well-equipped family home amongst residents in typical neighborhoods. Many places are outfitted with plenty vacation extras, and it won't be long before you feel at home.
- Most homes are between 3-5 bedrooms and limit the number of guests to 2 per bedroom, with exceptions made for small children. Some homes with pools do not accept small children. Vacation homes should be booked well in advance as they are often not available at short notice. They usually require prepayment and therefore have few cancellations within the last 3 months of arrival, If you are planning a holiday vacation you might want to look into home rental one year in advance!

They are often attached to the owner’s house—yet have a separate entrance, guest bathrooms, and nearly always a kitchenette, and in some cases a full kitchen. This type of accommodation has in the last few years become the most popular vacation rental trend. They can be found nearly everywhere in Hawaii, in residential settings and even in tourist area. In general they are a very good value. You have the option to get friendly with the owners and benefit from their local knowledge. Cook and eat your own meals, be on your own schedule, and rent at fair cost compared to commercial condos booked through large agencies.
